About Us

We grew up in the same small town along the coast of southern Maine. We actually lived in the same neighborhood without even realizing it! I (Laura) went to a school 20 minutes away while Brett went to school right in town. I can actually remember playing on our town rec co-ed soccer team together when we were in elementary school but it wasn't until the winter of 2020, both of us being back in York, that we connected. We often talk about how it must have been some kind of fate that brought us together then because I'm not sure we would have connected the way we did if we had met earlier. We quickly realized that the things we had in common were enough to make us a relentless team. We both love finding a thrill in the outdoors whether it is through surfing, skiing, skateboarding, hiking, diving, etc but what really connected us was our mutual passion for creative storytelling. While we grew up in the same place, we see the world around us in different ways. I tend to dream about big picture ideas while Brett looms in the infinite details. Our relationship is a beautiful collaboration where our differing creative perceptions align- that is where we got the name: Syzygy.
